
A casting might produce tighter tolerances, but an extruded shape will be more durable. Additionally, whereas an extrusion has no porosity, a casting is more likely to have some.
Most aluminum extrusions used for diverse applications fall under the aluminum 6063 and 6061 categories. The two alloys, however, differ from one another in terms of how they work with extrusion. Although 6061 aluminum is normally stronger, 6063 aluminum is a little more suitable for extrusion.

The key distinction between T5 and T6 is strength; T6 has greater strength than T5, while other performance characteristics are comparable. Aluminum plate T6 costs a little more than T5 due to variations in the production process.

T3 is an alloy of the same composition that has been furnace olution heat treated, quenched to room temperature, and cold worked; for the T4 alloy, furnace olution heat treatment was followed. T2 ignites an alloy that has been cooled from the ingle phae condition to room temperature, cold worked, and naturally aged.

The most popular grade in the 7000 series is grade 7075. It is the strongest commercial grade of aluminum and a very strong alloy.
6061 and 6061 T6 aluminum. The difference between the two is that T4 ages naturally, while T6 ages artificially by heating it to temperatures between 350 and 500 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 24 hours. Aluminum 6061-T1 is 6061 aluminum with a T1 temper. The metal was aged naturally until it met the necessary mechanical property standards to achieve this temper.
